The organic dome shape sits low on the substrate and gives shrimp a covered shelter with openings sized to let them move in and out freely while making it harder for fish and snails to follow them inside. Over time moss will begin to attach and grow across the interior and exterior surfaces of the dome naturally, which does two things — it helps the piece blend into a planted or natural aquascape, and it gives baby shrimp a constant source of biofilm and plant matter to graze on directly inside the shelter. This makes the dome useful for breeding tanks where shrimplet survival in the early weeks is the main challenge. The colorful options add a pop of personality to the tank floor without looking out of place next to plants and substrate. The glowing white and green variant is bright white during the day and shifts to a soft glow after lights out, which works especially well in tanks running a blue or black light mode at night.
Shrimp do best in tanks where they have multiple shelter options spread across different areas of the substrate. A single hide in the corner creates competition and keeps the colony clustered in one spot. Adding a few domes at different points across the tank floor encourages shrimp to spread out, explore, and establish individual territories, which reflects healthier and more natural colony behavior. The low profile of the dome means it fits easily into tanks with limited vertical clearance and does not block sight lines or compete visually with taller centerpiece decorations.
Rinse before placing in the tank. Works on gravel, sand, and planted substrates. Moss can be attached manually to the surface using fishing line or super glue gel if you want to speed up the natural coverage process.
