Dehydration is one of the most common causes of feeder insect die-off between the time they are purchased and the time they are fed out. Crickets in particular decline quickly without consistent water access, and a colony that arrives healthy from a supplier can crash within a few days in a dry enclosure with no hydration source. A gel crystal dish eliminates that variable completely and keeps feeders alive, healthy, and gut-loaded right up to feeding time — which directly affects the nutritional value of what your reptile, frog, or spider is eating.
Mix dry crystals with water and allow to fully expand before placing in the enclosure — a small amount of dry crystals produces a large volume of gel so start with less than you think you need. Place the gel in a shallow dish inside the feeder enclosure and refresh as it dries out or is consumed. Safe for crickets, dubia roaches, mealworms, superworms, and most other feeder insects.
