The grey textured side handles the heavy work — algae patches, lime scale, and mineral deposits that have built up on the glass surface between cleanings. Once the buildup is cleared, flip to the white side and polish the glass to a clear finish without switching tools or adding any chemical cleaner. The slim 0.51 inch profile fits into the tight lower corners of the tank where most larger scrubbers cannot reach without tilting and losing contact with the glass. At 3.27 by 1.57 inches it sits comfortably in the hand during use without slipping. Each sponge holds up for 100 or more cleaning sessions before the texture begins to smooth out and it is time to replace it. The three pack extends that well over a year of regular use at a meaningful cost reduction per sponge.
This sponge is designed for glass aquariums only and should not be used on acrylic tanks under any circumstances. The textured grey scrubbing surface that makes it effective on mineral deposits and algae on glass will leave permanent scratches on acrylic panels. If your tank is acrylic, use only a soft microfiber cloth rated for acrylic surfaces. For glass tanks it is safe against the glass surface and the silicone seals along the interior edges without causing damage to either.
Wet the sponge before use and rinse thoroughly after each cleaning session. No soap or chemical cleaners needed or recommended — the textured surface does the work on its own. Store dry between uses. Suitable for freshwater and saltwater glass aquariums of all sizes. Replace when the grey scrubbing texture begins to feel smooth under your fingers.
